John Bosco. Notes From Underground. An Italian story. Rome 1970/2010

"Marco Dominici was seven when he disappeared in Rome on April 26th 1970 on a Sunday afternoon. His remains were found seven years later in a tunnel in Centocelle district not far from his house.The remains were found by two guys who got into Forte Prenestino’s tunnels. There, just in the former basement of John Bosco’s Center they saw a pair of little shoes, clothes and a bunch of bones. The little shoes were the ones Marco Dominici was wearing on the day he disappeared. That day he went to the oratory of Salesiani Center to see a movie. When his mother went to pick him up the priests told her he had already left alone. But the kid never returned home. The research of the lost boy brought no result. The police hypothesized it was murder. The first suspect was suggested by one of the Salesian priests: a youngster with mental disease that used to hang by the oratory. But on him no clues were found and he was found not guilty for lack of evidence. During the trial in some of the institute rooms pornographic magazines were found and one of the friars was banned from the institute. Roberto Dominici, Marco’s father, has been wondering for 40 years if that could be related to his son’s death and would like to be sure the bones found are his kid’s. "Marco Dominici aveva sette anni quando è scomparso da Roma il 26 aprile del 1970 , una domenica pomeriggio. I suoi resti sono ritrovati sette anni dopo, in un cunicolo sotto un istituto dei salesiani, nel quartiere Centocelle, poco distante dall'abitazione della famiglia. Li hanno trovati trovati tre ragazzi che, in cerca di residuati bellici si erano addentrati nei tunnel sotto Forte Prenestino. Proprio sotto il centro "Don Bosco" hanno visto un paio di scarpette, brandelli di vestiti e un mucchietto di ossa. Le scarpette erano quelle che indossava Marco Dominici il giorno della sua scomparsa. Il giorno della scomparsa il bambino era andato al Centro del salesiani per vedere un film al cinema dell'oratorio. Quando la madre andò a prenderlo, i preti le dissero che era andato via da solo. Ma bambino non tornò a casa. Le ricerche non portano a nulla. Subito venne valutata l'ipotesi di omicidio. Il primo indiziato venne segnalato da uno dei preti del "Don Bosco": si trattava di un giovane con disturbi psichici che frequentava spesso l'istituto. Tutti sapevano che era appena uscito dal manicomio e, dato che alcuni bambini avevano detto di aver visto Marco in compagnia di un giovane, venne ipotizzato che fosse l'assassino. Ma su di lui non emersero elementi rilevanti e al processo venne assolto per insufficienza di prove. Nel corso delle indagini, nelle stanze di alcuni frati dell'istituto venne trovato del materiale pornografico e uno dei frati venne allontanato. Roberto Dominici, il padre di Marco, da 40 anni si chiede se questo abbia a che fare con la morte del figlio e vorrebbe avere la certezza che quelle ossa siano proprio quelle del suo bambino. Dunque: Ci vediamo tutti a Zurigo, Zurigo ovest, nella via che collega Pfingstweidstrasse a Duttweilerbrücke. Troverete una fila di lampioni, uno molto vicino all'altro, uno diverso dall'altro. Sono tutti i lampioni che ci sono a Zurigo, la compagnia elettrica cittadina EWZ usa la via come test di prova. Ogni lampione è affidato ad un artista, tra questi, ci sono io.
Walk on the Light Side
An Illumination Project in Public Space

Walk on the Light Side is an illumination project in public space. 18 artists present their site-specific works in a curved road marked by 22 street lamps. The well illuminated outdoor showroom situated in the middle of Zurich West serves as an ideal place to induce thinking about illumination and abysses.
The exhibition Walk on the Light Side will be open on the 11th, 12th and 13th of September and will take place in an access road between Duttweiler bridge, Migros- Herdern and the EWZ premises. Along this road, all types of city street lamps are lined up in short intervals. The EWZ uses the alley as a model garden and test track to examine the suitability of the various lamps for daily use. Every evening at nightfall the lamps are switched on along with the remainder of the municipal lighting. In individual succession and variation they produce the entire luminance range which is normally used to light up separate parts of the city. In this inhospitable environment, the collective memory of the various public space illumination concepts – be it at Rietberg park or under Hard bridge – presents itself.
The idea to elevate light itself to an exhibition space whilst presenting works of art is preset by the location. Zurich West is a prime example of the current urban rebuilding process: the melding of city and agglomeration, conversions, new development areas. Presented in this context, the „light curve“ becomes a pièce de résistance, a playful, free zone within the alleged wasteland. Simultaneously, Japanese artist Noritoshi Hirakawa presents his “House of Autonomy“ project. In a tent right by the curved road, an exchange market will take place: Displayed on tables, various goods such as DVD’s, clothes and computers will be offered free of charge. Conversely, visitors are invited to bring goods which they would like to give away. An alternative to monetary trade? Or simply an opportunity to give and take without any obligation?

"Mon project: Je pense que pour "capturer l'invisible" la meilleure chose, la plus logique c'est, peut etre, eteindre la lumière.
1- Pour ca je voudrais èteindre mon lamp et, en plus, ajouter au lamp une petite plaque où ecrir un bref concept qui explique que le but pour capturer l'invisible c'est èteindre la lumiere. Devenir soi meme invisible c'est le premier pas vers eux meme, que, peut etre, n'est pas trouvèe seulement par la ragion (dans ce propose je suis en train de rechercher une bonne phrase de Nietzsche ou autres autores qui ont traitèe ce problème).
En temp de crisi il faut regarder le monde à travers un autre lumiere, ce que ètè bien-etre maintenant c'est gaspillage et eteindre une lumiere c'est le moyen le plus simple pour le rendre visible.
2- En plus, si possible, j'amerais aussi eteindre tous le lamps chaque soir pour un minute. Dans sa naivetè eteindre et allumer la lumier c'est un act très scenographique, une forte branle. J'aime l'idèe de rejoindre trasversalement et avec discretion, l'individualitè de chaque lamp.
Dans ce moment de crisi, peut etre, nous renunceront à notre bien aimèe individualisme pour se joindre et se voir mieux. Ou, au moin, nous avrons gagnè un petit peu d'electricitè." [mimmo rubino]

"La sera del 31 ottobre 1926 a Bologna, nel pieno delle celebrazioni della rivoluzione fascista, venne sparato a Mussolini. Un ragazzo, identificato come l'attentatore, viene massacrato: è Anteo Zamboni, terzogenito sedicenne di un tipografo già anarchico e ora fascista e amico del leader del fascismo bolognese Leandro Arpinati. L'attentato fa scattare la reazione dei fascisti da strada e fornisce l'esca per la promulgazione delle leggi eccezionali che sanciscono l'instaurazione della dittatura. C'est un oeuvre "site specific" pour le sous sol du "Forte Prenestino" lieu cult de "l'underground" romain. L' image c' est le portrait de Anteo Zamboni, ca c'est l'histoire:
"Le soir du 31 octobre 1926 à Bologna, pendant les celebrations du fascisme, quelq' un tire à Mussolini. Un petite garcon, retenu responsable dans la foule, à ete massacrè : c'est Anteo Zamboni, fil d'un tipographe anarchiste, maintenant fasciste et ami du leader du fascisme bolognese Leandro Arpinati.
L' attentat provoque la reation des ecadrilles fasciste et sera l'occasion pour promulguer les lois que sanctionnes l'instauration de la dictature.
